OTOKOMAE TOFU-TEN
0
It's been a long time since last time I updated my blog. I had been unmotivated about studying English and didn't want to update my blog. But I feel inspired about studying English again lately. I don't know why I feel so.I guess I'm just an arbitrary character.

Well,I'll tell you something I bought today. This is a bread with tofu-cream. I don't know whether I can call this a bread. Is it a pastry? Anyway, there are many kinds of bread like this in Japan. We call it "Kashi-pan" in Japanese. "Kashi" means "sweet stuff " and "Pan" means "bread".

This bread is made with tofu. You know, tofu is a really famous Japanese food and it's known as a healthy food. This dough includes tofu and also cream is made with tofu. And the tofu which is used is really famous in Japan.

    It's called OTOKOMAE TOFU-TEN.

I think it's difficult to explain about OTOKOMAE. I looked it up in a dictionary and found the word "studmuffin". But OTOKOMAE is not a word only for men. I think it's a compliment for a cool person. Hmm,I don't think my explaining is good enough. I'm sorry but it's difficult.

Anyway, this company is really interesting. Speaking of tofu,it's traditional Japanese food, but this tofu company is a little bit different from another tofu companies. For example, packages of their products have interesting designs, and also naming is really fun. Of course, tastes are good. Accordingly, young people who weren't interested in tofu until then became interested in it.

Winter is just around the corner. it's the best season for tofu because winter is the season of Nabe. I'd love to have a Nabe-party with my friends.

That looks very delicious. I want to try some! :)

Oh, the definition of OTOKOMAE made me laugh. "Studmuffin" is a name that described a man who girls were easily attracted to, and described his sexual prowess. It's a bit of a joke now, used more to tease someone than to compliment them.

Nabe is still something I have not had yet. Oh I'm so jealous! I want to make it, but I don't know how. :(

I'm so happy you updated your blog. I miss reading your entries and about your life. I hope we can chat again soon. Take care! (^_^)

    Hello,DakRoland!

Just as I thought! I guessed that "Studmuffin" has different meaning from OTOKOMAE. An English dictionary is often unuseful. Sometimes,I feel it's really difficult to explain in English the meaning of a Japanese word. Anyway,OTOKOMAE is a compliment word. If it has bad meaning, nobody buys a OTOKOMAE tofu.

BTW,I found English recipes of Nabe. You should try!

Nice to see you posting again!

I'm not a fan of tofu but that does look pretty good!

    Thank you,e!

    You don't like tofu?
I guess you like this bread even if you don't really like tofu. Tofu is often used to make sweets in Japan, lately. Tofu cookies are known as a diet product. It's good for your health. Not only that,it's delicious.

I don't hate tofu, but overall I just don't have strong feelings either way for it.

But there are a few things with tofu I've had that were extremely delicious.

One was a sandwich with smoked tofu.

And there is a dairy-free ice cream sandwich called Toffuti Cuties I used to eat all the time!

So I bet that you are right that I would like Otokomae. But if you hadn't told me what it tastes like, and I just saw it on a shelf, I'd probably be thinking of a block of plain tofu and just keep walking.

    ;)
